Next to the insanely popular Klondike, Spider Solitiare may well be the most popular card game.
You might remember learning how to play spider on your windows computer. At work. (Oh come on, we've all done it.) Well, now you're not limited to just playing on your computer. You can take your game anywhere that your phone or table devices goes.
The ultimate objective is to remove all of the cards from the board. Easier said than done, right? (Unless you use a giant hand to sweep all of the cards off the table.) In Spider, you try to create piles in descending order from King, Queen, … 3, 2, Ace, and by suit. When you create a complete descending sequence that is all of the same suit, you're allowed to remove that sequence of cards from the table.
Unless you're playing on the easiest setting (where there is only one suit), at some point, you're going to have to make a choice. See, in Spider, you're allowed to move any lower numbered card onto a higher card, regardless of whether the suits match or not. But here's the catch, from there on out, you may end up "freezing" the mismatched cards. See, you can move several cards all at once from one tableau pile to another. But only if they're all of the same suit. So there's your dilemma.
If you're new, start with 1 suit. Looking for a challenge? Go for 2 suits. Looking for frustration? Go for all 4 suits of cards.
